COVID-19 Food Assistance

Initiatives

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on our communities.  High unemployment has made food insecurity more prevalent. Learn more about A Warriors Missions response in our communities.

We are delivering relief where it is needed the most.

Mission Deliver The Goods

Our food pantry has seen many new faces over the past few months.  We welcome all that come to our pantry.  We noticed that some of our usual clients were no longer stopping by. We thought there may be a problem that needs solving. After conversing with members of the community, we realized that many of our usual clients rely on public transportation to come to our pantry.  COVID-19 made travel by bus a frightening thought.  The solution....... Mission Deliver The Goods.

To date, we have been able to accomplish:

  • 2,742 boxes of food provided
  • 124 home deliveries of prepackaged boxed food
  • Purchased $8,677 in fresh foods for distribution

We are working very hard to serve as many families and individuals in crisis as we can. It is with the help of generous donors that we are able to continue to provide food to those that need it the most.

Over 100 meals delivered to date

Since the inception of Deliver The Goods program, we have delivered over 100 meals to families and individuals that do not have transportation, are home bound or homeless.

If you or someone you know needs food, and are unable to go to a pantry, we may be able to help!  Please contact us for more information.

In order for this program to expand, and reach more people, we need funding.  We would love to add a refrigerated truck to our brigade.  The average cost for a pre-owned truck is approximately $40,000.  So far, we have approximately $12,000 from several community members and businesses for this purchase. Please help us reach our goal.

COVID-19 may not go away.  Mission Deliver The Goods will be expanding to serve more communities as funding allows.

In Florida, over 525,000 households do not have access to a vehicle at all.  Over 3,000,000 households have just one vehicle to share.

Specifically in Hillsborough County, the county we serve, over 35,000 households rely solely on public transportation.  And, over 195,000 households share one vehicle. Perhaps you can see why it can be difficult for some to get to a food bank
