Divine Disruption: Embracing the Transformative Power of God's Plan in Times of Change

by M. Karshna

Life is full of surprises, and no matter how much we try to plan, there are times when God changes our plans. It can be frustrating and disappointing when we've worked hard to make something happen, only to have it changed. But as Christians, we believe that God has a plan for our lives, and that His plans are always for our good—especially when He changes ours. In this blog post, we'll explore what it means when God changes our plans and how we can trust Him, even when we don't understand.

Lets Pray

Dear God, as we explore what it means when You change our plans, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom. Help us to trust You and Your plan for our lives, even  when it doesn't make sense to us. In Jesus's name, Amen.

Divine Disruption

So what are some reminders we can tell ourselves when we get discouraged about our plans
changing?

  • God's plans are better than ours
  • Trusting God when plans change is vital
  • Surrendering our plans to God is a good thing

God's plans are better than ours: As humans, we often have limited vision and understanding of what's best for us. We make plans based on our own desires and what we think will make us happy, but God sees the bigger picture. When God changes our plans, it's because He knows that His plans for us are better than anything we could have planned for ourselves. Romans 8:28 reminds us that, “…we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (NLT). Rather than being discouraged, we can praise Him when He changes our plans, because it is in this that we know He is working on our behalf.

Trusting God when plans change is vital: It can be difficult to trust God when our plans fall apart. We may feel frustrated, angry, or confused. However, it's important to remember that God is always with us, even in the midst of our struggles. We can trust that He has a plan for our lives, even when we don't understand it. Isaiah 26:4 reminds us to, “Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock” (NLT). He will not be shaken, and in knowing that, we can trust Him.

Surrendering our plans to God is a good thing: When God changes our plans, it's an opportunity for us to surrender our own plans and desires to Him. It's a reminder that we are not in control, but that God is. We can pray and ask Him to show us His plan for our lives, and to give us the strength and courage to follow it. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us to, “Commit [our] actions to the Lord, and [our] plans will succeed” (NLT). This isn’t always easy; it takes a great deal of humility, but this humility is just another part of God’s plan for developing our character. He will never change our plans for any other reason than for our gain.

Divine Disruption | Conclusion

When God changes our plans, it can be a challenging and difficult experience. But as Christians, we can trust that God's plans for us are always for our good. We may not always understand why things happen the way they do, but we can trust in God's wisdom and love for us. By surrendering our plans to Him and trusting in His guidance, we can find peace and comfort even in the midst of uncertainty. Let us hold onto the promise in Romans 8:28, that, “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Lets Pray

Dear God, we surrender our plans to You and ask for Your guidance and direction. Help us to trust in Your plan for our lives, even when it's difficult. Give us the strength and courage to follow You wherever You lead us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
